The Florida Institute of CPAs collects this information to help nonprofit organizations in Florida find CPAs willing to serve on their boards of directors and bring much-needed financial and accounting expertise.

FICPA will share all or part of this information with Florida CPAs as part of CPAs Building Better Boards, a program developed by the FICPA in collaboration with the Edyth Bush Foundation, and other nonprofit partners.

This information will be shared with the FICPA. The information may be posted on the FICPA Web site or its chapter Web sites to facilitate connecting willing CPA volunteers with nonprofits who want this expertise on their boards of directors.

Potential interested CPA candidates will be directed to your organization through a link or they’ll be provided with your contact information. Your organization also will have the ability to review potential candidates through the FICPA Web site.

FICPA Offers Nonprofit Training to CPAs
In addition to providing a registry of organizations, CPAs Building Better Boards offers CPAs an intensive, eight-hour course to give them the knowledge they need to be highly effective board members. The FICPA partnered with Rollins College Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership Center. The daylong course addresses topics such as board members’ legal and ethical responsibilities; trends affecting nonprofit boards, fundraising strategies; guidelines a CPA can use to select the right board opportunity; and board responsibilities related to financial oversight, budgeting, financial reporting and investment considerations.
