Accounting Careers and Money Program

This exciting, new initiative of the Florida Institute of CPAs Accounting Careers and Education Committee is a one-day program designed to increase awareness among high school students of the accounting profession and the variety of career opportunities available within the profession. In addition, the program is designed to address the lack of skills and knowledge in the area of personal finance.

FOR WHOM?
High school junior or senior students interested in business and accounting.  Though not a requirement, we suggest students have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The target attendance is 25-30 students per location.

WHEN & WHERE?
For select days during the summer months, the program will be scheduled at various host university locations throughout Florida. The most recent C.A.M.P. was held at the University of South Florida - Sarasota-Manatee, on July 11, 2008.

HOW TO APPLY?
Students must complete an application and be nominated by a teacher. A nomination form will be made available for downloading from this web page in Spring 2009.  Teachers or interested students may also request a form with a phone call or by email (see contact information below).

WHAT ABOUT ACCEPTANCE & NOTIFICATION?
Teachers and students will be notified of acceptance within two weeks of the camp date. Students who are attending will receive information regarding the program agenda, location, time, parking instructions, on-site contacts, and more.

HOURS?
The hours for this one-day C.A.M.P. are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with on-site supervision available from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for students depending on rides with others.

COST?
None. Meals, snacks, instructional materials, and other program-related expenses will be provided by the FICPA. However, students will need to provide their own transportation to and from the university.
