Florida Institute on Federal Taxation® Conference Recap

FICPA Florida Institute on Federal Taxation® Conference

The FICPA’s Florida Institute on Federal Taxation® Conference was held November 2-4, 2005 in Orlando, Florida.  With over 130 CPAs in attendance, this year’s conference was another success!

Attendees received valuable CPE credit covering a range of topics including 1031 Transactions, The Section 199 "Production Deduction", Use of Limited Liability Entities in Tax Planning and Asset Protection, Divorce Litigation - CPA Role, and The Charitable Trust-The CPA's Swiss Army Tool.

Some featured speakers included Thomas Ochsenschlager who provided an up-to-date presentation on Tax & Legislative matters; Guillermo Fernandez-Quincoces who provided informative and educational presentations on both International Tax and Succession Planning; Eric Schmitz who brought the audience into the “trenches” with his session on IRS Controversies; and Lawrence Wiener who got everyone thinking with his presentation on Retirement Planning.

A committee of dedicated CPAs plan this conference each year and also deserve special recognition.  This group works hard to create a dynamic agenda with excellent speakers.  Members of the committee include:

James “Andy” Gray, Chair
Yolanda Nader, Vice Chair
Esther Barrera
Richard Blankenship
Stephen Cohn
David Dennis
Gregory DeVino
William Foley
Larry Herring
Tammy Hicks
Alfredo Jacomino
Kristine Polo
Daniel Prinzing
Barbara Withers

Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s conference!  Be sure to mark you calendars for next year’s event, scheduled for November 2006 in Orlando.
