Summer Vacation Cluster

The 2008 FICPA Summer Vacation Cluster was held at the Hilton at Walt Disney World on July 31-August 2.  There were over 70 CPAs in attendance throughout the three day event, with sessions covering a variety of areas, including:

• A&A Update
• Employment Law
• Not-for-Profit Update
• Real Estate Trends
• Fraud
• Fiduciary Accounting
• Corporate Tax Planning
• Ethics
• LLCs and S Corps
• Personal Financial Planning

The instructors for these sessions included some of the “best in the business”, including Pat Patterson, Gordon Spoor, Chas Smith, and many more!

Many of the attendees took advantage of the location of the Summer Vacation Cluster and brought friends and family to enjoy Downtown Disney, which is walking distance from the hotel.

One very exciting event during the conference was a brief sighting of Presidential Candidate John McCain.  He was a guest at the Hilton hotel while campaigning in Orlando.  See if you can spot him in this video (John McCain at the Hilton).

Overall, the event was a big success, offering great information, valuable CPE credit, networking opportunities, and the magical environment of Walt Disney World.

Mark your calendars for July 30-August 2, 2009 for next year’s FICPA Summer Vacation Cluster, once again being held at the Hilton across from Downtown Disney.  You don’t want to miss this event!  You never know what “sightings” we’ll have next year!
