Smoking Ban Bill Passes its First Committee

FICPA NewsFlash [1/13/2006]

On Jan. 10, House Bill 317 by Rep. Carl Domino, R-Palm Beach Gardens, unanimously passed the House Business Regulation committee. It has one more committee stop before going to the floor. Its companion, Senate Bill 600 by Sen. Mike Haridopolos, R-Melbourne, was referred to three committees but has yet to be heard.

If passed, this legislation would remove s. 561.695(6), F.S. requiring a CPA to complete an agreed-upon procedures report for a stand-alone bar verifying that food sales do not exceed 10 percent. During the 2005 legislative session, SB 1348, containing the same language was vetoed by the Gov. Bush for other reasons.

This legislation is supported by the Florida Board of Accountancy.
