Smoking Ban Bill Passes Senate Committee

FICPA NewsFlash [1/27/2006]

On Jan. 24, Senate Bill 600 by Sen. Mike Haridopolos, R-Melbourne, unanimously passed the Senate Regulated Industries Committee with one amendment. It has two more committee stops before reaching the Senate floor. As amended, the bill will remove s.561.695(6), F.S. requiring a CPA to complete an agreed-upon procedures report for a stand-alone bar verifying that food sales do not exceed 10 percent. Additionally, it provides that certain penalties will apply if an owner of a stand-alone bar files a false affidavit with DBPR. Its companion, House Bill 317 by Rep. Carl Domino, R-Palm Beach Gardens, passed two House committees earlier this month.
