HB 317 was the first bill of the 2006 legislative session to pass the Florida House of Representatives by a unanimous vote of 120-0. Its companion, SB 600, still has two more committees of reference before it is heard on the Senate floor.
- This bill is supported by the Florida Institute of CPAs and the Florida Board of Accountancy at DBPR (the regulatory board for all Florida CPAs), and has been worked on in cooperation with the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, Florida Retail Federation, American Cancer Society and the Lung Association of Florida.
- This bill does not expand the percentage of food sales for a stand-alone bar or make any other changes to the Clean Indoor Air Act. It simply removes the requirement that a stand-alone bar must have an agreed-upon procedure report completed by a CPA every three years.
- It does not remove the requirement that a stand-alone bar owner submit a signed affidavit each year to renew their license indicating that their food sales do not exceed 10 percent.
