Networking Opportunities
Chapter Participation Through local chapter participation, you have the perfect opportunity for networking, educational and leadership activities. By attending monthly meetings, you will meet other members and professionals from your local community. Each regularly scheduled meeting includes one to three hours of continuing professional education, covering a broad range of topics. Many chapters offer public service and social activities as well.
Some chapters also hold member roundtables in which participants may share ideas and gain insight from their colleagues. Roundtables include chapter management of an accounting practice, sole practitioners and members in industry, government and education. Topics of discussion specifically relate to the unique concerns of these distinct segments of the CPA profession.

Committee Involvement The backbone of the FICPA is our active and diverse committee system. Our committees are a dedicated and viable force providing membership services and serving as an important liaison with other segments of the business community and general public. Serving on a committee will allow you to have a voice in the decisions that affect the direction of the accounting profession. Each year, every voting member of the FICPA has the chance to select a committee on which they wish to serve. Committee assignments are made in April and are based upon member interest, geographic and demographic characteristics.
For more information regarding FICPA committees, e-mail the FICPA’s Member Service Center at msc@ficpa.org, or call (800) 342-3197 - Florida only or (850) 224-2727.
Annual Liaison Meetings Each year, members may submit questions to representatives from the IRS, the DBPR Division of Land Sales, Condominiums and Mobile Homes, and the Florida Department of Revenue through various committee and Section liaison meetings. The FICPA committees on Federal Tax and the Common Interest Realty Associations (CIRA) and Florida State Tax Sections meet annually with representatives from each of these governmental bodies and present them with your questions. The magazine and Web site publish their answers periodically in special sections throughout the year. While the answers do not represent official positions of the agencies, they often provide the assistance you need.
For more information on any of these meetings, e-mail the FICPA’s Member Service Center at msc@ficpa.org, or call (800) 342-3197 - Florida only or (850) 224-2727.
