Kathryn M. Means, Ph.D., CPA, is a Professor at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida. She received her degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. Her area of specialization is Financial Reporting and Financial Accounting Theory. Her articles have appeared in The Journal of Accounting, Auditing, and Finance, Accounting Horizons, The Woman CPA, and Management Accounting, among others. She is a member of the American Accounting Association, the AICPA and serves on the Board of Directors for the Atlantic Chapter of the FICPA.
Kay has been actively involved in the Accounting Profession her entire career. She has been on the FICPA Atlantic Chapter Board of Directors for over ten years and has chaired various committees. She has been active at the State level through her involvement in the Committee on Accounting and Auditing Standards and the Education Advisory Board. She has also been active in the American Accounting Association on national committees, section committees, and as ad hoc reviewer for various regional and national meetings.
Kay is a dedicated teacher. She has won several university teaching awards and was voted Professor of the Year by the Accounting Students Association in 1989. She was named the FICPA Accounting Educator of the Year in 2006. She is a student advocate. She has been the faculty advisor for the Accounting Students Association, the Accounting Honor Society (predecessor to Beta Alpha Psi at FAU), and is currently advisor to the Accounting Students Association FICPA Student Chapter.
Kay has been a member of the FICPA since 1981 and a charter member of the Accounting and Auditing Section. Kay is also a member of the Accounting and Auditing Section Steering Committee.
