FLORIDA INDUSTRY SECTION STRATEGIC PLAN WORKSHEET

Florida Industry Section Mission Statement:To assist Section members developing their business acumen, improving their response to business challenges and becoming more technically proficient in accounting and tax matters related to Florida’s Industry by sharing valuable and timely information.

Goal & Objective Summary

Goal 1: To provide opportunities for member-to-member sharing of knowledge relating to Florida Industry.

Objective 1: By December 2008, review current offerings and develop new content for the Florida Industry Section Web site.

Objective Coordinator: Ellen Joseph

Objective 2: By December 2008, enhance Section member use of and participation on the Section Discussion Board (Listserv).

Objective Coordinators:  Steering Committee/Resource Council

Objective 3: By June 2009, members will produce TBD article(s) for Florida CPA Today magazine and TBD article(s) for the Florida Industry Section Web Site.

Goal 2: To provide opportunities for members to participate in professional development activities relating to Florida Industry.

Objective 1: By March 2009, plan and hold the CPAs in Industry Conference in Fort Lauderdale and Tampa. (Note: The majority of this objective is carried out by the CPAs in Industry Conference Planning Committee)

Objective 2:  By June 2009, implement a series of roundtable discussions.

Goal 3: To increase participation of general members in Section related activities.

Objective 1: By December 2008, develop and implement a Section member volunteer recruitment strategy.

Goal 4: To provide publications and other materials to teach members about proposed, new and existing accounting and auditing standards, regulatory changes, and other areas of interest to members in Industry.  

Objective 1: By April 30, 2009, post these materials on the Section Website under Practice Tools.

Goal 5: To develop divisions of interest within the Florida Industry Section.

Objective 1: By December 2008, add Construction Industry Conference, Elder Care Services, Health Care Industry and Not-for-profit Organizations Committees as divisions of interest within Florida Industry Section.
