Darryl Ott
Ensource, Inc
Jacksonville, FL
Darryl received his undergraduate from Georgia Southern and his Master of Accountancy from the University of Georgia in 1976. He worked for a local firm in Georgia until 1979 when he moved to Jacksonville with Peat Marwick and became a Florida CPA.
He has several years combined CPA firm experience, audit and tax, with the local firm, Peat Marwick and Touche Ross.
Darryl was recruited by a client as Controller and Treasurer and has enjoyed industry experience more than 25 years in Jacksonville.
His experience is nearly exclusively inside closely-held and/or family-owned businesses in various industries, where, over the years, he has found such businesses have pervasive need for sound business administration skills and basic internal control. His industry experience includes roles of employee, officer and owner in consumer finance, construction, wholesale and retail distribution, manufacturing, employee leasing and telecommunications.
In addition to his role as one of three principals of Ensource, Inc., Darryl also is general manager of his wife’s factoring business, and also operates a small bookkeeping and tax preparation practice.
Ensource, Inc., an east-coast corporation headquartered in Jacksonville, provides sales, installation, service and maintenance for sophisticated, high-capacity telecommunications equipment. Although responsible for many typical financial management duties, his effort centers mostly on contracts, treasury and business administration. He says the needs of a small business seem to grow exponentially with each new customer and each new state where inevitable challenges of nexus, risk and HR arise.
Within the FICPA, Darryl has participated in chapter and state activities for nearly 25 years. He is past-president (twice) of the Jacksonville chapter and currently serves on the chapter board, and has volunteered and worked actively at the state level in several capacities including Regional Representative from Region II, Board of Governors, various task forces and committees. A few years ago, he was awarded the FICPA’s Outstanding Committee Chairman for work on the CPA’s In Industry Conference Committee.
He is currently serving on the State Board of Governors for his eighth year and has been elected for a ninth. He is a member of the FICPA Finance Committee and, effective July 1, 2007, a member of the AICPA Council. He participates in committees and task forces and enjoys his work as High School Coordinator in Jacksonville with University Christian School.
Outside of work, Darryl enjoys being with his wife and daughter, and enjoys vocals, playing bass guitar and keyboards, as well as running the sound system at his church. He owns a motorcycle and looks all around for some time to enjoy it.
