MAP Survey Logo

Have you ever wondered how your accounting firm stacks up against others of similar size or revenue? Findings from the newly released 2008 National MAP Survey can help you find out. Use the results to optimize your firm. The survey includes comparative data for Florida and the nation on wide ranging key business indicators such as:

  • Income (gross fees earned, bad debt write offs, writedowns, and more)
  • Expenses (salaries, malpractice insurance, retirement plans, and more)
  • Percent of Fees by Service
  • Billing components
  • Staffing and compensation data
  • Partner Agreements and Succession Plans
  • And more!

FICPA MAP Section members have exclusive access to the Florida-specific survey results. FICPA members who are not MAP Section members can join for free by registering here (login required).

Soon, additional 2008 survey data will be added to the MAP Section Web site. Bookmark the results page and check back. For more information contact sections@ficpa.org.

Thank you to all the Florida firms that participated in this year’s survey.

Message From the Chair: Mark Brechbill, Mark Brechbill, CPAs in Stuart

I am excited to be writing to you as this year's Chair for the MAP Section, which is really weird, because I used to think that volunteering for an FICPA activity was not a good use of my time. Like many of you, I have a small practice and must allocate my time to activities that generate the most "bang for my buck," so here I am as Chair of a Section that doesn't even have a "technical" purpose, like Accounting and Auditing, Fed Tax, or CIRA.

So my reason for being Chair, hopefully, is the same reason that you might want to participate and take a more active roll in the Section: it has helped me avoid mistakes and take advantage of opportunities that resulted in me having a practice that I am happy with, and that has made me more money, in a manner that I enjoy. I am constantly amazed at the people I get to work with in the MAP Section, their expertise, their varied perspectives, and the types of practices they manage. I have learned a tremendous amount from them, and am truly honored to serve as their Chair.
