Message from the Chair: Jeanine Bittinger, CPA

As we are attending Committee/Section Days in Tampa (beginning on July 17, 2008), I would like to thank all of our State & Local Government Section members for their continued involvement. The accomplishments of this Section group are the result of a very diverse and committed Steering Committee and Resource Council. Members include representatives from the State of Florida Auditor General’s office, faculty from universities, finance officers from all levels of government and public accounting practices of all sizes. I consider it a great honor to have been selected the 2008-09 Chair.

Our 2008 State & Local Government Conference will be held on August 21 and 22 at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport.  We have another outstanding program for you this year! Among a very distinguished list of speakers, we are especially fortunate to have with us David Bean, CPA, GASB Director of Research and Mary Foelster, CPA, AICPA Director of Governmental Auditing and Accounting. 

An addition to this year’s agenda will be the opportunity to obtain four hours of continuing education in Ethics for Government CPAs in Florida on Wednesday August 20 at the same venue.
