April 21 is Florida’s First Financial Fitness Friday

Florida’s First Financial Fitness Friday is an outreach event of “360 Degrees of Financial Literacy,” an initiative to educate Floridians about financial responsibility.

On April 21, FICPA members in Tallahassee and across Florida will help the public with their financial fitness checkup by answering simple financial questions through a phone bank at FICPA headquarters and through the FICPA Web site via e-mail.

The FICPA Financial Literacy Taskforce encourages Floridians to complete a financial-fitness checkup at least once a year. Please feel free to customize this check list by adding your firm’s name and/or logo to help promote Florida’s First Financial Fitness Friday.

Why: Many families in Florida and across the country are struggling with financial decisions, failing to prepare for retirement and gaining high-interest credit card debt in the process. 

When: April 21 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

What: 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy volunteers  across Florida will offer assistance to their fellow Floridians by answering simple financial questions through a phone bank at FICPA headquarters and through e-mail.

Volunteers at FICPA headquarters will take calls from 9 a.m-5 p.m. Volunteers outside of Tallahassee will answer questions from callers in their areas through e-mails forwarded to them from Financial Fitness hotline volunteers. All volunteers will be provided with question and answer guidelines.

Also available to Florida’s Financial Fitness and 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy volunteers is the AICPA’s online continuing professional education course. The course is free to FICPA members and provides a review of crucial financial literacy issues. CPAs who complete the course receive two CPE credits from the AICPA.
