Benefits Quick Reference
A Personal Commitment to Excellence... Fellow CPAs, business professionals, governmental agencies and the general public will recognize your affiliation with the FICPA as an example of your dedication to the accounting profession in Florida. As an active member in your professional association, you will play an important role in shaping the future of your profession.
Strength in Numbers... Founded in 1905, the FICPA has been working to advance the accounting profession in Florida for more than 90 years. The FICPA now has more than 18,500 members - a number that continues to grow each year. Our continued membership growth and renewal has made us one of the six largest state CPA organizations in the U.S.
Diversity... Public and private practice CPAs in the state of Florida account for the majority of membership in the FICPA. However, other non-voting membership categories include associate members, accounting educators, retired CPAs and CPAs living outside the state of Florida. The FICPA even has a student affiliation for accounting students. FICPA members hail from a myriad of backgrounds including: Fortune 500 companies; publicly and privately held companies; federal, state and local governmental agencies; educational institutions; and international, national and local public accounting firms.
Local Representation... The FICPA serves your needs at a local level through its 27 chapters across Florida. These chapters are further grouped into six geographical regions. Chapters are an integral part of the Institute and facilitate networking and Continuing Professional Education opportunities for members, as well as providing a conduit for communication with the FICPA leadership. Regional and local chapter members also provide locally elected representatives to serve on the FICPA Board of Governors.
Leadership... The FICPA Board of Governors serves as the main governing body of the FICPA, establishing the official policies of the Institute and its members. Serving on the Board is among the highest honors in the profession. The Board meets at least twice a year and its meetings are open to all FICPA members. The FICPA Executive Committee provides oversight of the organization’s day-to-day operations.
